Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 84th birthday on October 11. The milestone drew widespread tributes from industry peers, highlighting a career that transitioned from the ‘Angry Young Man’ era to becoming a household name through film and television. Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali expressed admiration, stating there is ‘nobody like Amitabh Bachchan,’ while longtime makeup artist Deepak Sawant reflected on a 52-year professional association with the actor.

Industry peers, including Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi, extended wishes, with Chiranjeevi describing Bachchan as his ‘dearest Guru Ji.’ Actor Shatrughan Sinha also described him as a ‘national icon’ and an inspiration for Gen Z, while Kamal Haasan praised his iconic baritone and screen presence. On the television program ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati,’ the celebration featured an emotional moment involving a recording of Bachchan’s late mother, Teji Bachchan, and a personal tribute from his son, Abhishek Bachchan.

Following the occasion, fans in Prayagraj held religious observances at the Dashashwamedh Ghat, performing prayers and ‘jalabhishek’ to Lord Shiva to wish the actor long life and health. Local artist Poonam Kishore, who has previously presented artwork of the actor to his residence, Jalsa, participated in the ceremonies.

During the birthday period, Bachchan issued an apology via his blog to his fans, whom he refers to as his ‘EF Family’, for being unable to meet them at the gates of his Mumbai residence, Jalsa, on Saturday. He promised to meet them during his customary Sunday appearance.

Despite his age, Bachchan remains active with upcoming projects such as ‘Section 84’ and the anticipated sequel ‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2,’ where he is expected to reprise his role as Ashwatthama. Reports also noted the actor's economic journey, noting a transition from a 90 crore rupee debt in the 1990s to an estimated family net worth of approximately 4,000 crore rupees.
