Anan Khalaili, a 21-year-old versatile player capable of playing as a right-sided winger or a full-back, has officially completed his transfer from Union Saint-Gilloise to Crystal Palace. The Israeli international has signed a contract with the Premier League club that runs until the summer of 2031.

The deal is valued at approximately £21 million (€24.5 million). This move follows a period of medical uncertainty after a previous attempted transfer to Inter Milan collapsed. While Inter president Giuseppe Marotta previously stated the Italian club could not finalize the deal because Khalaili did not receive the “necessary medical clearance required by strict Italian health legislation,” new details have emerged regarding the discrepancy in medical standards.

Khalaili’s agent, Boaz Goren, noted that while strict medical fitness protocols required by CONI prevented the player from passing sports suitability tests in Italy, Crystal Palace medical staff cleared the player in less than two minutes after reviewing his documentation. Goren stated that although Inter Milan was the player’s preferred destination due to their tactical system, the situation has been accepted. 

Khalaili joins other summer signings at Crystal Palace, including Oscar Mingueza, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Dwight McNeil. His arrival has also led to speculation regarding the future of defender Daniel Muñoz, with reports suggesting the club may sell the Colombian wing-back for approximately £25 million to suitors such as Everton or Nottingham Forest.
