Developments: 2. Medical professionals in Andalusia are organizing strikes to protest deteriorating working conditions, including issues with schedules, compensation, working hours, and mandatory shifts. Organizers have criticized the healthcare system for utilizing doctors as “cheap labor.” The Sindicato Médico Andaluz (SMA) announced an indefinite strike scheduled to begin on November 13, 2026. The mobilization is planned to start with three weeks of continuous 24-hour stoppages lasting until December 4. The union stated the action is necessary due to a “lack of progress” in implementing a July 29 agreement intended to improve working conditions and compensation, specifically citing the government’s refusal to establish a concrete timeline for these improvements. The regional government (Junta) has described the strike as “senseless,” arguing that a signed commitment already exists to guarantee compliance. The administration also questioned the timing of the strike, noting it occurs during a pre-election campaign period. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-19: Andalusian doctors organize strikes over working conditions Andalusian doctors are organizing strikes to protest deteriorating working conditions and what they describe as the use of medical professionals as “cheap labor.” 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/andalusian-doctors-organize-strikes-over-working-conditions ### 2026-10-15: Andalusian doctors announce indefinite strike Andalusian doctors have announced an indefinite strike starting November 13, 2026, citing failure to implement a labor agreement, despite government claims that a signed pact remains valid. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/andalusian-doctors-announce-indefinite-strike --- Cite as: Andalusian medical professional strikes.
