Nagendra Rao Konidela, known as Naga Babu, has been appointed chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Society for Greening and Reforestation for Ecological Enrichment (AP Green). The appointment, issued via government order, grants him Cabinet rank status to lead the executive committee under the Environment and Forests Department.

Upon assuming office, Naga Babu stated his intention to transform environmental protection into a “mass movement involving public participation.” The initiative aims to increase the state’s green cover from its current 22.96 percent to 50 percent of its total geographical area by the year 2047. 

To reach this target, the committee will coordinate across various sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, education, and water resources, targeting greenery expansion in cities, villages, industrial areas, and canal banks.
