In late September 2026, the New York Knicks signed veteran center Andre Drummond to a one-season, $3.9 million contract. Following the departure of Mitchell Robinson, Drummond was brought in to provide rebounding and rim protection for starter Karl-Anthony Towns. Team members expressed optimism during Media Day, with head coach Mike Brown noting Drummond appeared quicker than expected and captain Jalen Brunson calling him a “big key to this team.”

By October 2026, Drummond debuted his first signature basketball shoe, the Stria Sport Drumm 1, during a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Additionally, it was noted that Drummond had opted to skip the Knicks’ championship recognition ceremony earlier in the season. He stated his decision to avoid the banner raising and ring distribution was to let his teammates have their moment, remarking, “I don’t want to experience something that I wasn’t here for.”
