During a Thai League 1 match between PT Prachuap and Pattani FC at Tinsulanon Stadium, former England international Andros Townsend was struck by a motorized pitch roller during a halftime warm-up. The maintenance vehicle collided with the 35-year-old player, passing over his legs and lower body. Townsend described the experience as “terrifying,” expressing fear that his previously surgically repaired ankle or knee might break after his left leg became momentarily trapped under the vehicle. He noted that he managed to relieve some of the pressure with his arm before being freed by teammates. Following the incident, medical staff determined he had sustained only minor “bumps and bruises” and superficial wounds. Townsend was able to return to the pitch as a substitute in the final minutes of the match, which his team won 3-0. In subsequent discussions on Piers Morgan’s ‘Football Uncensored’, Townsend elaborated on the incident. He also shared via social media that he has utilized a specific diet—including slow-cooked chicken feet, eggs, and olive oil—to assist with pain management and recovery without the use of medication. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-22: Andros Townsend escapes injury after being run over by pitch roller Former England winger Andros Townsend escaped serious injury after being run over by a pitch roller during a warm-up for PT Prachuap FC in Thailand. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/andros-townsend-escapes-injury-after-pitch-roller-incident-in-thailand ### 2026-09-19: Andros Townsend struck by pitch roller during warm-up in Thailand Former England footballer Andros Townsend escaped serious injury after being run over by a pitch maintenance roller during a warm-up in the Thai League 1.
