Commemorations are underway to mark the centenary of the birth of Polish film director Andrzej Wajda and the tenth anniversary of his death.

In the United States, the Film Forum in Manhattan is hosting a three-week retrospective titled ‘Andrzej Wajda 100,’ featuring 25 films, many in digitally restored 4K versions. The program includes works such as ‘Kanał,’ ‘Ashes and Diamonds,’ ‘Katyń,’ and ‘Man of Iron,’ with introductions contributed by Martin Scorsese.

In Poland, the Łódź Philharmonic organized a symphonic concert dedicated to music from Wajda’s films, featuring compositions by collaborators like Wojciech Kilar and Andrzej Korzyński. The director’s legacy continues to be recognized alongside other Polish cultural milestones, such as the digital release of singer Andrzej Zaucha’s song ‘Bądź moim natchnieniem’ on the 35th anniversary of his death.
