The Anima Mundi sacred music festival is marking its 25th anniversary in Pisa with various performances across historical venues. 

The festival’s inaugural concert, scheduled for September 8 at the Pisa Cathedral, features conductor John Eliot Gardiner leading The Constellation Choir & Orchestra in works by Johannes Brahms and Felix Mendelssohn. 

Subsequent programming includes a September 17 performance of Franco Battiato’s ‘Messa Arcaica’ at the Pisa Cathedral, directed by Guido Corti. On September 21, the Orchestra Cremona Antiqua will perform at the Camposanto Monumentale, featuring Pietro Dinetto’s ‘Cantico delle creature’ alongside Italian Baroque works by composers such as Vivaldi and Alessandro Scarlatti. The 25th edition is under the artistic direction of Trevor Pinnock.
