Ansu Fati, a forward who joined AS Monaco permanently from FC Barcelona this summer, has faced ongoing challenges following a calf injury sustained during the preseason.

After being included in the squad for a Ligue 1 match against Toulouse, Fati made his official debut for the club, appearing in the final fifteen minutes of a 2-2 draw at the Louis II Stadium. His return followed a progressive recovery plan managed by Filipe Luis, which included gaining match fitness during a friendly against Pisa.

However, Fati’s integration has been hindered by further physical setbacks. Following a period of missing the first seven matches of the season due to calf issues, the Spanish forward has reportedly suffered a new hamstring injury. This recurring injury history has led AS Monaco to evaluate the long-term value of the player, who was signed for €11 million. The club is also reportedly considering the departures of attacker Folarin Balogun amidst a dip in team form.

Most recently, Fati suffered another setback during a match against Lille at the Louis II stadium. After regaining form and confidence under coach Filipe Luís, the former Barcelona player was forced to leave the pitch after only fifteen minutes due to “muscular discomfort in his right thigh.” Fati was replaced by Mathys Detourbet and left the stadium visibly distressed. He is expected to undergo medical tests to determine the severity of the injury, while his coach expressed frustration regarding the recurrence and the need to find solutions for the player to maintain a consistent run of matches.
