The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has imposed fines totaling 13.5 million PLN on companies for rigging tenders organized by PGE Dystrybucja. The antitrust regulator found that entrepreneurs conspired to influence 11 tenders concerning the construction and reconstruction of power grid infrastructure. Rather than competing in electronic auctions, companies coordinated bids via telephone to predetermine winners. In one instance regarding the Garwolin–Żelechów power grid, participants allegedly agreed ‘not to interfere’ with a specific bidder in exchange for future reciprocal cooperation.
