Sources: 5. Developments: 2. The Sakamichi idol groups have launched a joint audition process for a new project named Aobasaka46. This marks the first joint audition conducted by the three existing groups—Nogizaka46, Sakurazaka46, and Hinatazaka46—in eight years. Initial stages included audition seminars held in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, where active members from the three groups provided advice and shared personal experiences with applicants. The project structure dictates that selected members will perform as Aobasaka46 for approximately one year before being assigned to the 7th generation of Nogizaka46, the 5th generation of Sakurazaka46, or the 6th generation of Hinatazaka46. Following the seminars, the audition theme song, titled ‘Audition’, was released digitally alongside a music video. The track features a ‘Sakamichi Selection’ of 15 members, with five representatives from each of the three existing groups. The audition period is scheduled to remain open until October 8, 2026. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-26: Aobazaka46 audition theme song ‘Audition’ released with music video The theme song ‘Audition’ for new group Aobazaka46 has been released, featuring 15 members from the Nogizaka46, Sakurazaka46, and Hinatazaka46 groups. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/aobazaka46-audition-theme-song-audition-released-with-music-video ### 2026-09-23: Aobasaka46 audition seminars held by Sakamichi group members Members of Nogizaka46, Sakurazaka46, and Hinatazaka46 held seminars in Japan to support applicants for the new Aobasaka46 group audition, a joint project held for the first time in eight years. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/aobasaka46-audition-seminars-held-by-sakamichi-group-members --- Cite as: Aobasaka46 Sakamichi group audition process.
