A key component of this budget was the confirmation of 5 million euros to assist farmers struggling with summer droughts that reduced hay yields by 30 to 40 percent and impacted livestock production. Following this, the regional government detailed the allocation of these drought relief funds. Approximately 4.47 million euros is designated as a one-time bonus to compensate for increased operating costs and decreased forage yields. This support is distributed based on livestock numbers and land area, providing specific rates for productive and unproductive animals, as well as for irrigated meadows and pastures. The relief plan also includes daily contributions for farmers performing early ‘désarpa’ (the seasonal removal of livestock from mountain pastures) and funding for investments in water infrastructure to improve future availability. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-14: Italy implements regional subsidies and training programs Italian regions are deploying millions in subsidies to support agriculture against drought and energy costs, while launching new technical training and sustainability initiatives across various sectors. 25 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/valle-daosta-allocates-5-million-euros-for-drought-relief ### 2026-09-29: Aosta Valley Council approves 2026-2028 budget variation The Aosta Valley Regional Council approved a budget variation for 2026-2028, allocating 50 million euros in new revenue, including 5 million euros for drought-stricken farmers. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/aosta-valley-council-approves-2026-2028-budget-variation --- Cite as: Aosta Valley agricultural drought relief measures.
