Sources: 4. Developments: 2. Archaeological salvage operations conducted during the construction of the Mexico City-Querétaro passenger train have yielded significant historical findings. Initial reports from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) detailed the recovery of diverse ceramic artifacts spanning from 400 BCE to 1521 CE. These findings, which include gray clay pottery from Oaxaca and Toltec ceramics, suggest extensive cultural exchange and migration between various regional societies. To manage these discoveries, the Ministry of Culture established a specialized ceramics laboratory in Tepeji del Río de Ocampo, Hidalgo, to analyze and reconstruct ritual and utilitarian objects. Subsequent excavations near the Buenavista terminal in Mexico City uncovered a possible pre-Hispanic ossuary located 1.40 meters underground. This site contained nine sets of skeletal remains, including skulls with cranial modifications, alongside domestic ceramics, obsidian blades, and figurines. Researchers estimate these remains date to the Late Postclassic period or the early colonial era. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-04: Pre-Hispanic ossuary discovered during Mexico-Querétaro train construction Archaeologists discovered a possible pre-Hispanic ossuary and various artifacts during Mexico-Querétaro Train construction in Mexico City. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/pre-hispanic-ossuary-discovered-during-mexico-quertaro-train-construction ### 2026-10-14: Mexico-Querétaro train works uncover ancient ceramics and cultural exchanges Archaeological excavations for the Mexico-Querétaro train have recovered ceramics spanning 2,000 years, revealing complex cultural exchanges between Teotihuacan, Toltec, Mexica, and Oaxacan societies. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/archaeological-finds-along-mexico-quertaro-train-route-reveal-ancient-cultural-links --- Cite as: Archaeological discoveries during Mexico-Querétaro train建设.
