Archbishop José Manuel Imbamba, President of the Conference of Episcopal Conferences of Angola and São Tomé (CEAST), presided over the International Anniversary Pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of Fátima in Portugal. The event, which commemorated the 1917 apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima, drew approximately 70,000 pilgrims. During his addresses, Archbishop Imbamba highlighted global issues such as violence, armed conflicts, and rising nationalism. He advocated for reconciliation and the use of forgiveness to combat indifference, intolerance, and cycles of hatred. He specifically noted that “forgiving is not pretending, amnesia, or erasing the truth, but a decision that prevents pain from continuing to control one’s life.” In addition to global concerns, the Archbishop emphasized the necessity of resolving conflicts within families to prevent resentment from destroying relationships. He called for an interior renewal among Christians to foster societal change through love and reconciliation. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-15: Archbishop José Manuel Imbamba leads Fátima pilgrimage Angolan Archbishop José Manuel Imbamba led a pilgrimage in Fátima, Portugal, calling for global reconciliation and forgiveness to combat war, nationalism, and domestic family divisions. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/archbishop-jos-manuel-imbamba-leads-ftima-pilgrimage ### 2026-09-12: Archbishop José Manuel Imbamba presides over Fátima pilgrimage Angolan Archbishop José Manuel Imbamba presided over a major pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of Fátima, calling for global peace and spiritual renewal to combat violence and intolerance. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/archbishop-jos-manuel-imbamba-presides-over-ftima-pilgrimage --- Cite as: Archbishop Imbamba Fátima pilgrimage.
