Archbishop William E. Lori has addressed themes of spiritual growth and the social role of religious life. Initial reports noted teachings from Coastal Church regarding salvation and the spiritual fruit produced by the Holy Spirit.

In a subsequent keynote address to the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious in Florissant, Missouri, Archbishop Lori focused on the renewal of American political culture. He argued that societal change must begin with the renewal of individuals, stating, “Before there can be renewal of institutions, there must be renewal of persons.” He advocated for religious life to remain “above politics” to avoid partisan ideologies while continuing to serve society.
