All Blacks captain Ardie Savea is scheduled to undergo surgery for a shoulder dislocation sustained during a Test against South Africa. The injury was expected to rule him out of the Bledisloe Cup series and cast doubt on his availability for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Following his recovery, Savea has officially signed with the Blues for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season. The move marks a return to Auckland for the 32-year-old after playing for the Kobe Steelers in Japan and Moana Pasifika.
