In the second week of the BRI Super League, Arema FC faced PSM Makassar at Gelora B. J. Habibie Stadium. Prior to the match, Arema FC coach Marcos Santos focused on tactical preparations to counter PSM Makassar’s organized defense and vertical playing style, seeking to build on a previous 4-0 victory.

The match resulted in a 3-3 draw. Arema FC established a 3-1 lead through goals from Gabi, Gustavo Franca, and Careca, but PSM Makassar secured a comeback with goals from Stefan Jevtovski and two from Luka Cumic, including an equalizer in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Following the result, Santos criticized his players for a loss of concentration during critical moments. He stated that allowing the opponent to score late after holding a commanding lead was an “unacceptable error” for a team competing for the top of the standings.
