On 28 July 2026, the Argentine Superintendencia de Riesgos del Trabajo (SRT) issued Resolution 35/2026, repealing over 90 occupational-risk regulations to simplify the legal framework. 

A week later, on 6 August 2026, the Milei administration reversed a recent deregulation of the port sector. The original decree, which allowed ship captains to operate without a port pilot, provoked an indefinite strike by maritime workers that halted port activity. In response, President Milei signed Decree 716/2026, suspending the previous measure, restoring the existing regulatory framework, and ordering the reactivation of port services.

To resolve the conflict, the government established a working table involving the Ministry of Security, the Argentine Naval Prefecture, the National Agency of Ports and Navigation, and private sector representatives. By 9 August 2026, the administration began evaluating a legislative path to implement maritime reforms through Congress rather than decree. This proposed approach focuses on the cabotage regime—specifically regarding the participation of foreign-flagged vessels—alongside modifications to the Navigation Law and crew regulations. The government aims to use these legislative changes to increase competition and reduce logistical costs while continuing negotiations regarding pilotage services to ensure service continuity.
