The Argentine Football Association (AFA) approved a structural overhaul for the First Division championship scheduled for 2027. The new format will replace the current two-group system with a single league table. Under this plan, teams will play 30 rounds, with the Apertura and Clausura tournaments both featuring playoffs for the top 16 teams. Three champions will be crowned annually: the winners of the Apertura and Clausura, and the team finishing first in the overall annual classification. River Plate was the sole club to vote against this proposal, suggesting a reduction to 20 teams instead.

Separately, regional leagues are undergoing administrative and financial restructuring. In Neuquén, Club Social y Deportivo Petrolero Argentino reported paying 3,597,000 pesos to avoid sanctions and maintain participation in the Liga de Fútbol del Neuquén. The club also reported financial irregularities, including unpaid salaries and unexplained transfers, and has requested an accounting of funds from Eduardo Hermosilla regarding a 50,000,000 peso provincial contribution. In Escobar, the Liga Escobarense de Fútbol has entered a six-month normalization process to reorganize its governing bodies and documentation following the expiration of its previous board's mandate.
