Sources: 6. Developments: 2. Infrastructure projects are being implemented across various protected areas in Argentina to support penguin conservation and sustainable tourism. In Cabo Vírgenes, new facilities have been inaugurated, including a lookout point at the penguin colony, a reinforced two-kilometer interpretation trail, and the renovation of the Casa Alpina cabin. These works, a collaboration between the Provincial Agrarian Council, Fundación Por el Mar, and Estancia Monte Dinero, aim to balance visitor needs with natural resource protection. A Master Plan is also being developed to guide long-term management of the area. Similarly, in the Cabo Dos Bahías Natural Protected Area in Chubut, infrastructure upgrades were completed during the low season to prepare for the arrival of Magellanic penguins. Improvements included maintaining walkways, installing gas lines, enhancing water supplies, and adding new signage. These efforts involve public-private partnerships with the Rewilding Argentina Foundation and cooperation with National Parks and local municipalities to promote environmental conservation. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-03: Cabo Dos Bahías begins penguin season with infrastructure upgrades The Cabo Dos Bahías Natural Protected Area in Chubut has launched its penguin season following infrastructure upgrades and conservation efforts to support ecotourism and wildlife protection. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cabo-dos-bahas-begins-penguin-season-with-infrastructure-upgrades ### 2026-09-15: Cabo Vírgenes inaugurates new infrastructure for penguin sanctuary New infrastructure, including a penguin lookout and renovated trails, has been completed at Cabo Vírgenes to promote sustainable tourism and environmental conservation. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cabo-vrgenes-inaugurates-new-infrastructure-for-penguin-sanctuary --- Cite as: Argentine penguin sanctuary infrastructure developments.
