In early September 2026, Aris FC prepared for the departure of French striker Miguel Alfarela. Following an agreement to terminate his contract, which was originally set to run until 2028, the club intended to allow him to leave as a free agent to help reduce its roster size. Alfarela had seen limited playing time, totaling only 69 minutes in two appearances, and had been excluded from recent match squads.

By mid-September, the situation reversed when Aris Thessaloniki reintegrated both Alfarela and Kostas Galanopoulos into the team’s competitive plans. This shift occurred after the club failed to reach transfer agreements for the players following the summer window. Management and head coach Michalis Grigoriou decided to bring them back into rotation to address sporting needs and increase stability in the midfield and wing positions.
