A series of armed robberies has been reported in the Greater Santo Domingo area, affecting various residents.

In the Villa María sector of the National District, Luis Miguel Morillo was robbed at gunpoint on October 4 while visiting a friend. Morillo reported that an assailant followed him from a local grocery store into a residence, stealing a gold chain, cash, personal documents, and an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Morillo used the incident to clarify misinformation regarding his residence, stating he lives in Villa Mella, while his friend Bianca Batista noted that shared security footage is incomplete. The National Police are investigating the case.

In a separate report, actor and comedian Kenny Grullón noted he has struggled with sleep following a robbery at his own residence the previous week, stating, “I haven't stopped thinking about what happened and, to be honest, I'm still not sleeping well.”
