Argentine musician Simón Natanael Alvarenga, known professionally as Callejero Fino, remains in custody following a traffic stop in the Tigre district. The incident, conducted by the Tigre Operations Center (COT), involved a Volkswagen Amarok found with tinted windows and license plate issues. During the search, authorities discovered a .40 caliber Glock pistol in the front left door compartment. The weapon was loaded with twelve cartridges and had its serial number filed off.

Prosecutor Cosme Iribarren upgraded the charges to the illegal carrying of a war weapon. While Alvarenga’s cousin, Steven Joel Ricca, was also detained, Prosecutor Iribarren has clarified that evidence indicates Alvarenga was the one operating the vehicle in the 48 hours preceding the arrest. 

Alvarenga’s defense, led by attorney Diego Storto, argues that the weapon was possessed due to death threats against the artist and his son. In a formal statement to the judiciary, Alvarenga denied involvement in criminal associations and sought to overturn his preventive detention. However, Judge Mariana Schemberger has previously denied requests for his release, citing flight risks and the potential to obstruct the investigation.

Investigators are currently conducting forensic analysis on electronic devices and using the National Automated Ballistic Identification System (SAIB) to determine if the firearm is linked to other crimes. Judicial authorities are also considering summoning singers María Becerra and Julián Reininger (J Rei) as witnesses.
