In mid-September 2026, several incidents of fire and property damage were reported in France. In Martres-Tolosane, a bakery fire occurred during the early hours of September 19, affecting a 60-square-meter sales area and resulting in smoke inhalation for two individuals. Simultaneously, in Gières, twelve vehicles were destroyed in a parking lot fire; authorities are investigating this as a criminal matter due to signs of forced entry.

Following these events, officials in Martres-Tolosane issued a call for vigilance after further burglaries targeted two local bakeries. One of these establishments was also subject to arson, leaving its future uncertain. Local authorities have advised business owners to enhance security measures, such as securing access points and ensuring alarms are functional, noting an increase in such incidents within the region.
