Cultural commemorations in Balassagyarmat have focused on significant Hungarian artistic figures. Initially, the Jánossy Gallery hosted the ‘Jánossy 100 – The Heritage’ exhibition to mark the centenary of painter Ferenc Jánossy, showcasing works ranging from surrealist compositions to figurative pieces. This period also included a Budapest event featuring a painting of poet György Faludy.

Subsequently, the 40th meeting of the Friends of Balassagyarmat incorporated the centennial commemoration of Jánossy alongside other cultural programs.
