Arthur Dias, a 19-year-old defender for Athletico-PR and a member of the Brazilian national team, recently reflected on his early career and addressed current transfer speculation.

In a retrospective interview, Dias revealed that at age 14, he was offered a contract and housing in Porto Alegre by Internacional. He ultimately chose to remain with Athletico-PR. He also noted his transition from a futsal player and forward to a defender at age 15.

More recently, Dias has addressed reports of interest from major clubs, including Flamengo and FC Barcelona. While acknowledging that playing in competitions like the Champions League is a professional ambition, he stated his current priority is his performance with Athletico-PR. He noted that he is leaving all contractual negotiations to his legal representatives.

Reports indicate that FC Barcelona has actively monitored the player, with club executive João Amaral reportedly scouting Dias during a match against Bahia in September. Dias has emerged as a potential long-term solution for Barcelona’s central defense following the club’s unsuccessful attempts to secure Josko Gvardiol or Alessandro Bastoni during the summer transfer window. His recent breakout season has seen him help Athletico-PR compete near the top of the league standings following their promotion to the top flight.
