AS Roma faces significant squad shortages ahead of their Serie A match against Genoa. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini must navigate the absences of key players including Malen, Svilar, Cristante, Koné, and Dybala.

Despite these absences, Roma secured a 2-0 victory against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico during the 7th round of Serie A. The win allows the team to maintain an unbeaten streak and move into second place in the standings, trailing league leaders Inter by only two points. This performance marks Roma’s best start to a league season in twelve years.

Santiago Castro opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a chip over goalkeeper Justin Bijlow, and Emanuele Lulli secured the win in the 68th minute following an assist from Matías Soulé. Lulli’s goal marked his first career Serie A goal. The match represented a tactical duel between Gasperini and Genoa manager Daniele De Rossi.

This victory was a milestone for Gasperini, who achieved his 300th Serie A victory with the result. The win served as a recovery for Roma following a recent Champions League defeat against Real Madrid and domestic draws against Inter and Como. During the match, both sides had opportunities to break the deadlock, including hits to the crossbar by Roma’s Balerdi and Genoa’s El Shaarawy. The victory brings Roma to 17 points, while Genoa remains in 19th place with four points. Following this win, Roma is scheduled to face Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League before traveling to face Napoli in their next league fixture.
