Sources: 6. Developments: 2. AS Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur has come under intense scrutiny following a period of inconsistent defensive performances in Ligue 2. Following the club’s first defeat of the season, a 2-1 loss to Dunkerque, Larsonneur faced criticism regarding his positioning and involvement in conceded goals. Local media outlet Peuple Vert noted that such defensive lapses could potentially threaten the club’s ambitions for promotion to Ligue 1. Pressure on the goalkeeper continued after a subsequent 2-2 draw against FC Metz, where Larsonneur recorded only one save from three shots on target. Statistical analysis of the first seven matches of the season shows a 57.9% save rate, ranking him 16th out of 19 goalkeepers in the league. In response to these struggles, former player and coach Laurent Roussey suggested that the club provide more guidance to rebuild the goalkeeper’s confidence while emphasizing that Larsonneur must engage in self-reflection to address his current performance levels. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-27: Gautier Larsonneur faces scrutiny following AS Saint-Étienne draw Following a 2-2 draw against Metz, AS Saint-Étienne goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur faces criticism over poor statistics and recent form, prompting calls for staff support and personal self-reflection. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/gautier-larsonneur-faces-scrutiny-following-as-saint-tienne-draw ### 2026-09-16: AS Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur faces scrutiny after first defeat AS Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur faces mounting pressure following the team's first Ligue 2 defeat against Dunkerque, raising questions about the club's promotion prospects. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/as-saint-etienne-goalkeeper-gautier-larsonneur-faces-scrutiny-after-first-defeat --- Cite as: AS Saint-Etienne goalkeeper performance scrutiny.
