AS Vita Club in Kinshasa has been experiencing a period of institutional instability characterized by competing leadership factions. In late September 2026, interim president Flory Mapamboli denied rumors of his resignation and announced new appointments for the football and judo sections, citing interference from the Direction des Activités Physiques et Sportives (DAPS) as the reason a scheduled elective general assembly could not proceed. By October 2026, the crisis intensified following disputed elections held on September 18. The conflict emerged between the outgoing management committee led by Mapamboli and Sylvestre Makambo, the winner of the Supreme Council elections. Mapamboli subsequently resigned, stating his decision was intended to allow the club to focus on sporting priorities and to protest administrative irregularities. To prevent security incidents during this dispute, Sports Minister Didier Budimbu requested the postponement of the club’s first two Linafoot Ligue 1 matches. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-20: AS Vita Club faces leadership crisis and match postponement AS Vita Club faces a leadership vacuum following the resignation of interim president Flory Mapamboli amid a disputed election crisis, prompting calls to postpone the club's upcoming league matches. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/as-vita-club-faces-leadership-crisis-and-match-postponement ### 2026-09-27: AS Vita Club interim president denies resignation amid leadership crisis AS Vita Club interim president Flory Mapamboli denied resignation rumors and warned of legal action against unauthorized use of the club's name amid ongoing leadership disputes and election delays. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/as-vita-club-interim-president-denies-resignation-amid-leadership-crisis --- Cite as: AS Vita Club leadership crisis.
