The 2026/2027 ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) Shopee Cup has commenced, with Group B action beginning in Singapore. In the opening match, Vietnam’s Công An Hà Nội (CAHN) FC faced the Lion City Sailors.

CAHN entered the tournament with significant momentum from the V. League, having secured nine points in three matches without conceding a goal. However, the squad faced challenges regarding player fatigue and availability; key players Đình Bắc and Lê Văn Đô were returning from the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, while defender Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh was excluded from the away squad. The Lion City Sailors, led by new English head coach Mark Jackson, sought to recover from a slow domestic start where they held only one point from two matches.

CAHN secured a 1-0 victory in the matchup, with Leonardo Artur scoring the decisive goal. While the win aids the Vietnamese side's progression, the match raised concerns over player workload. CAHN player Đình Bắc suffered a muscle injury in the closing stages; although he described it as a “minor muscle strain” requiring only a few days of rest, reports noted his heavy schedule, having played 62 matches across club and national levels over the previous 12 months.
