The agency launched two specific series, ‘Direttrici d’Orchestra’ and ‘Italiane della scienza’, which aim to profile women who have succeeded in traditionally male-dominated fields to reflect a changing Italian society. Editorial director Paolo Mazzanti highlighted the flexibility of podcasting as a supplement to primary news and its potential to combat conspiracy theories and fake news. He also noted the medium’s growing mass appeal, citing estimates of approximately 18 million regular listeners in Italy and the existence of roughly 50,000 podcasts in the country. Alessandra Quattrocchi, the agency’s head of in-depth reporting, stated that these series provide portraits of women that reflect a transforming Italy. During the presentation, Annamaria Nassisi, a manager at Thales Alenia Space, discussed the importance of opening the fields of space and science to women. She noted the increasing presence of women in her company compared to the start of her own career and mentioned her upcoming ‘Donne fra le stelle’ festival, which aims to encourage younger generations toward STEM fields. The event served as a prelude to the Podcasting Festival in Milan on October 2-3, where Askanews is a media partner. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: Askanews launches new podcast series on women in science and music Askanews presented two new podcast series focused on female conductors and women in science in Rome, ahead of the Podcasting Festival in Milan. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/askanews-launches-new-podcast-series-focused-on-women ### 2026-09-26: Askanews presents new podcast series in Rome Askanews presented new podcast series in Rome, including ‘Direttrici d’Orchestra’ and ‘Italiane della scienza’, focusing on women's achievements in Italy ahead of the Podcasting Festival in Milan. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/askanews-presents-new-podcast-series-in-rome --- Cite as: Askanews launch of new podcast series.
