Tensions have emerged along multiple borders involving Assam in Northeast India. In late August, violence broke out in the disputed Negheribil area on the Assam-Nagaland border. The Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation reported that village council chairmen and representatives were assaulted by a mob following the erection of a barricade by Assam forest department officials.

In September, similar friction occurred at the Assam-Meghalaya border in Maikhuli village. An alleged intrusion by over 100 people from Assam resulted in the dismantling of a boundary wall and a school wall, as well as the installation of bamboo barricades. This led to physical confrontations between the group and local residents. Security forces, including the CRPF, were deployed to restore order as local organizations called for strengthened security to address recurring land boundary disputes.
