During one encounter in the parking lot, 36-year-old Derek Fontes assaulted a man identified as John Doe. Following this, police responded to reports of an assault on West Broadway, where they found Doe with significant facial and head lacerations and heavy bleeding. A Poverello Center employee identified Fontes as the assailant. Officers subsequently located Fontes on California Street.
