Sources: 5. Developments: 2. Máté Kreitler-Sas, the deputy mayor of Újbuda and a member of the local civil guard, was hospitalized and underwent surgery after being injured during a police intervention on Bartók Béla Street. The incident occurred when civil guards responded to a report of a man refusing to let a woman leave an apartment. During the encounter, a suspect pushed a police officer down a flight of stairs and, while Kreitler-Sas attempted to restrain him, was also pulled down the stairs, resulting in a ruptured Achilles tendon. Following the struggle, authorities conducted a search of the residence and seized over one kilogram of marijuana, several grams of cocaine, scales, packaging materials, and millions of forints in cash. Although the suspect tested positive for THC and cocaine, he was released within 72 hours because the prosecution determined that legal requirements for detention were not met, though preventive supervision was ordered. This release drew criticism from public figures regarding the handling of drug-related detentions. In the aftermath of the incident, the civil guard association honored Kreitler-Sas with a gold-level award for his bravery and service to the community. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-10: Újbuda deputy mayor honored after injury during police intervention Újbuda deputy mayor Máté Kreitler-Sas received a gold award from the civil guard after sustaining a serious injury while assisting police in apprehending a drug suspect. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/jbuda-deputy-mayor-honored-after-injury-during-police-intervention ### 2026-10-07: Újbuda deputy mayor hospitalized after assault during drug raid Újbuda deputy mayor Máté Kreitler-Sas was hospitalized after an assault during a drug raid.
