# Aston Villa Champions League campaign continues > Live situation record from CLSTR: https://clstr.news/situations/aston-villa-and-fenerbahe-champions-league-matchup > Updated: 2026-10-26T09:25:13.000Z. Sources: 130. Developments: 9. Following a dominant 6-0 victory over Fenerbahçe on October 14, 2026, Aston Villa is preparing for a UEFA Champions League match against Norwegian champions Viking FK. The previous win, which featured goals from Johan Manzambi, Nicolas Jackson, Ross Barkley, and Tammy Abraham, remains the largest victory in the club’s European history and moved Villa to third in the standings. Ahead of the clash with Viking FK, manager Unai Emery has called for respect and focus, cautioning that his team are not favorites to reach the top eight and must remain organized to sustain their momentum. Viking FK enters the fixture after a 3-3 draw against Bayern Munich, though they currently sit at the bottom of the Champions League group stage with one point. Both clubs are managing squad availability issues. Aston Villa is dealing with injuries to Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen, and Matteo Ruggeri, while Viking FK is facing absences including Veton Berisha and Martin Ove Roseth. Aston Villa has since secured a perfect start to the campaign, earning nine points from nine available following victories over Brugge, Fenerbahçe, and Viking. Under Emery, the squad—often referred to as “Villa 2.0”—is undergoing a rebuilding phase following summer departures. Despite heavy investment and ongoing injury challenges, particularly in full-back positions, the team has shown improved cohesion through players such as Nicolás Jackson, Johan Manzambi, and Alysson. The club now looks toward upcoming fixtures against Manchester City and Barcelona. ## Claims - Aston Villa manager Unai Emery praised Fenerbahçe as a large club with a significant history.
