Ather Energy has launched the Konarc, its first mass-market electric scooter built on the new EL platform, marking a strategic shift from a premium niche toward the mainstream family segment. Unveiled at Ather Community Day, the Konarc features a steel unibody chassis and metal body panels, prioritizing stability and practicality with a 1,352mm wheelbase and 14-inch front wheel. Storage includes 31 litres of under-seat space and a 2-litre front compartment.

The scooter is available in S and Z series variants. The S Line offers three battery options and supports fast charging up to 1,350W via portable chargers, with prices starting at ₹99,999. The Z Line serves as a higher-spec version, featuring a touchscreen display and a ‘Magic Key’ fob with ‘AutoPop’ functionality. 

To support this rollout, Ather introduced ecosystem services such as fifth-generation Bedrock batteries with a 10-year or 100,000 km warranty, AtherNode for apartment charging, and Ather True Health for diagnostics. A Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model is also available to reduce upfront costs.

Despite surging demand—with monthly inquiries exceeding seven lakh in the June quarter—the company faces production constraints. Current monthly demand of over 50,000 units exceeds the Hosur facility’s capacity of approximately 35,000 units, resulting in waiting periods of up to four months. Long-term growth plans include a new manufacturing facility in Auric, Maharashtra, scheduled for Q3 FY27 to reach an annual output of 14.2 lakh units.
