The Dutch company Athom has introduced hardware solutions to address smart home fragmentation and interoperability challenges. Initially, the company offered the Homey Pro, a central hub designed to connect diverse devices across various protocols, such as 433MHz, and bridge them into ecosystems like Apple Home.

Following this, Athom unveiled the Homey Portal, a stationary touchscreen controller. Designed to provide room-based automation access without a smartphone, the device features a rotating stainless steel ring for adjusting settings like light brightness and thermostat levels. While the Homey Portal manages lighting, music, and heating, it is not a standalone hub and requires an existing Homey ecosystem to operate.
