Young players at Atlético-MG, specifically defender Vitão and goalkeeper Gabriel Delfim, have begun gaining prominence within the club. Vitão has earned increased playing time under coach Eduardo Domingues and has been participating in friendly matches with the Brazil U-20 national team. He has also received public praise from former Spanish international Gerard Piqué.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Delfim has stepped into a primary role due to an injury to starter Everson, who is recovering from a left foot fracture. Delfim has made a significant impact, notably during a penalty shootout in the Sudamericana quarterfinals against Santos, which he described as the most significant moment of his career. He has expressed ambition to eventually represent the Brazilian senior national team.

Delfim recently recorded eight saves—five within the penalty area—to help secure a draw against Athlético-PR while playing with one fewer player, boosting supporter confidence. As the club prepares for the Copa Sul-Americana final against Boca Juniors, former player Felipe Melo has weighed in on the goalkeeper selection. While acknowledging Delfim’s importance, Melo advocates for the return of Everson, citing his experience and leadership, provided he has regained sufficient match fitness after missing 11 matches.
