The Australian Test bowling quartet of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon has achieved significant historical milestones following a 214-run victory over South Africa in Durban.

The group became the first quartet to surpass 600 Test wickets played together. Josh Hazlewood characterized the period as a ‘golden age,’ noting that the unit has entered its tenth year as Australia’s primary attack with a sense of freedom and reduced pressure.

Due to their unprecedented wicket-taking statistics as a four-man unit, the attack has been recognized as one of the best in the world over the last 50 years. Analysts have compared the group to legendary bowling units, such as the West Indian teams of the late 1970s and the Australian combination of the early 2000s featuring Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne.
