The Austrian Space Forum (ÖWF) is preparing for the AMADEE-27 Mars simulation mission, which is scheduled for April 2027 at the Monsaraz Analog Research Station in Portugal. The mission will involve six analog astronauts conducting 17 scientific experiments.

In late October 2026, technical systems and scientific experiments underwent testing at the Gebrüder Weiss facilities in Wels, Upper Austria. These tests included a Mars rover developed by the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, designed to assist with navigation and the transport of scientific samples and equipment. Gebrüder Weiss is serving as the official logistics partner, responsible for transporting high-value research equipment between Austria and Portugal.
