Research from iSeeCars indicates that Japanese brands, specifically Toyota, Lexus, Honda, and Acura, lead the industry in long-term durability. Toyota showed a 19.7% probability of reaching 250,000 miles, which is significantly higher than the industry average of 5.4%. Complementary research by the Swedish magazine Vi Bilägare and Rostskyddsmetoder focused on factory anti-corrosion protection across over 500 models. This study evaluated manufacturing elements such as sealants and drainage. In this assessment, Honda received the lowest score of 1.8 points, while Ford and Toyota both scored 2.2 points. Other brands including Fiat, Mitsubishi, and Subaru also received lower marks regarding original factory protection.
