The autumn 2026 anime season is characterized by a diverse lineup of new releases, major franchise returns, and nostalgic adaptations. Early reports highlight major streaming content, including the second and third stages of ‘Steel Ball Run’ and a new ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ series on Netflix, alongside the third season of ‘The Apothecary Diaries’ on Crunchyroll.

As the season approaches, focus has shifted toward adaptations of classic titles. These include a new version of CLAMP’s ‘Magic Knight Rayearth’ to mark its 30th anniversary, with fans noting efforts to replicate a “cel-shaded aesthetic.” Other key projects include the first TV anime adaptation of the RPG series ‘Suikoden’, scheduled to broadcast on TOKYO MX in early October, and the premiere of ‘PSYREN’. Industry activity includes viewer polls by PASH! PLUS to rank summer season satisfaction and autumn anticipation.

Streaming platforms are expanding their seasonal schedules significantly. Netflix is set to premiere the action-comedy ‘Rooster Fighter’ on October 10, followed by ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ Season 2 on October 20, featuring a new cast in Night City. Netflix also hosts ‘Blue Box’ Season 2. Crunchyroll is adding nine new titles, including ‘Dandivine’ and ‘Magic Repo Man’. Major franchise returns include ‘Black Clover’ Season 2 starting October 3, ‘Tokyo Revengers’ Season 4, ‘Blue Lock’ Season 3, and ‘Ranma ½’ Season 3.
