As autumn progresses in Slovakia, various seasonal safety and maintenance guidelines have been issued for the public.

Regarding wildlife and road safety, the Slovak Hunting Chamber has warned of an increased risk of vehicle collisions with deer and wild boar due to rutting seasons and habitat changes. The State Nature Conservancy of the Slovak Republic has released an updated map of brown bear sightings to assist hikers and residents. In the event of a bear encounter, experts advise increasing distance rather than running, and using a passive defense by lying face down to protect the head and neck if attacked.

Recent reports have heightened these concerns. Slovak police reported a mother bear with cubs near the village of Vyšná Myšľa on the route toward Košice. Officials have urged extreme caution, noting that bears remain active and have not yet entered hibernation. Authorities warned that mothers protecting young may react defensively and advised the public not to approach, photograph, or attempt to scare the animals.

Public health and lifestyle guidance includes recommendations for bolstering immunity through outdoor activity and controlled cold exposure. Seasonal maintenance advice covers gardening, such as transplanting basil indoors to bright, south-facing locations before temperatures drop below 10 °C, and lawn care, specifically recommending leaving grass at approximately 4 to 5 centimeters to protect it from the cold.
