Sources: 6. Developments: 2. Avigdor Liberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, has proposed a new administrative framework for the West Bank that involves Jordan. Initially, Liberman suggested that Jordan assume security and administrative responsibility for Areas A and B, potentially through an Israeli-Jordanian confederation, to prevent a security vacuum. He argued that the Palestinian Authority has become “bankrupt” and called for full Israeli sovereignty over Area C. This proposal drew criticism from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. Liberman subsequently expanded his position, calling for the dismantling of both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. He warned that the United States is likely to recognize a Palestinian state encompassing the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jordan Valley, and East Jerusalem within two and a half years. Liberman criticized Netanyahu’s current policies, claiming they are effectively assisting in the establishment of a Palestinian state. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-08: Avigdor Liberman proposes dismantling Palestinian Authority and Hamas Israeli politician Avigdor Liberman proposes dismantling the Palestinian Authority and Hamas, suggesting Jordan take responsibility for the West Bank to preempt U.S. recognition of a Palestinian state. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/avigdor-liberman-proposes-dismantling-palestinian-authority-and-hamas ### 2026-09-23: Avigdor Liberman proposes Jordanian role in West Bank administration Israeli politician Avigdor Liberman proposed that Jordan assume security and administrative roles in parts of the West Bank, a move condemned by Prime Minister Netanyahu and other government ministers. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/avigdor-liberman-proposes-jordanian-administration-of-west-bank-areas --- Cite as: Avigdor Liberman West Bank administrative proposals.
