The agricultural sector in Ayacucho, Peru, shows significant economic growth, with agricultural production increasing by 20.1% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the previous year. Regional exports have also risen, driven largely by Andean grains. To support this growth, stakeholders have emphasized the need for technological advancement and better infrastructure to transform raw materials into high-value products, noting a lack of specialized agroindustrial centers. However, recent audits by the Ayacucho Regional Council reveal significant administrative and execution failures within the Regional Directorate of Agriculture. Despite the existence of a regional agrarian agenda, several key projects have stalled. Notable examples include a rural land titling project in La Mar and a water infrastructure project in the Pampas River basin, both of which have reported zero physical progress despite having allocated budgets. The audit also identified shortages in personnel and equipment, as well as a lack of technical guidelines for regional investments. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: Ayacucho agricultural projects face stalled progress and unexecuted funds An audit in Ayacucho, Peru, reveals stalled agricultural projects and unexecuted budgets, including near-zero progress on land titling and water infrastructure in La Mar and Víctor Fajardo. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ayacucho-agricultural-projects-face-stalled-progress-and-unexecuted-funds ### 2026-09-21: Ayacucho seeks to boost agroindustry through technological advancement The 25th National Congress of Agroindustrial Engineering Students in Ayacucho will focus on improving technological capacity and infrastructure to increase the value of regional agricultural exports. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ayacucho-seeks-to-boost-agroindustry-through-technological-advancement --- Cite as: Ayacucho agricultural sector development and management.
