The retrial of the Ayhan Bora Kaplan organized crime case has begun at the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court. This follows a regional appellate court decision to overturn previous sentences that had given Kaplan 68 years in prison. 

During the proceedings, Kaplan alleged that the investigation was conducted with prejudice and that he faced pressure and ill-treatment in custody. He further argued that media manipulation targeted him for his political stances and that the organized crime charges lack concrete evidence. 

Serdar Sertçelik, a key witness extradited from Hungary, testified that he was the victim of a conspiracy involving fake emails and reports. The court has ordered the continued detention of 17 defendants, including Kaplan and Sertçelik, with the trial adjourned until December 28, 2026.
