The city of Imola is set to host the Baccanale 2026 festival from October 24 to November 15. Themed ‘Encounters: Italian cuisine without borders’, the event explores the evolution of Italian culinary traditions through the exchange of ingredients, people, and customs.

The festival program includes culinary demonstrations, markets, tastings, workshops, and lectures. It aims to support efforts to have Italian cuisine recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. 

The 2026 edition also coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Slow Food movement. During the inauguration at the Teatro Ebe Stignani, Slow Food Italia will be awarded the Garganello d’oro to celebrate the movement’s history and its focus on biodiversity, sustainability, and food justice.
