Sources: 24. Developments: 4. The Backstreet Boys began a ten-show concert residency in Düsseldorf, Germany, titled ‘Into The Millennium - Homecoming: Live in Germany’. The series, held at the Merkur Spiel-Arena, represents the group’s only European performances for 2026. In the lead-up to the event, hundreds of fans gathered at the Breidenbacher Hof hotel to interact with band members Nick Carter and Howie Dorough. Local cultural activities, including a ‘Millennium Palace’ at the Theatermuseum and a merchandise terminal at the Alte Kämmerei, were established to support the residency. Following the launch of the series on September 25, organizers reported that approximately 450,000 tickets had been sold. The high-production performances feature a 32-meter high stage, pyrotechnics, and a 26-song setlist. The show includes a laser show and a unique entrance where band members descend from the stadium ceiling on hoverboards. Focusing on pop nostalgia, the setlist revisits hits from the 1999 album ‘Millennium’, such as ‘I Want It That Way’ and ‘Larger Than Life’. Fans attended the event following a white and light blue dress code to match the album's aesthetic. During the shows, the group highlighted their historical connection to the region, describing Germany as their ‘first love’ and noting it was one of their first major markets during their early career. The residency is scheduled to run through October 7. After the first three shows, fan reception has been largely positive, though some attendees noted criticisms regarding long queues, expensive VIP packages, and a minimalist stage design. During a performance for a crowd of 48,000, singer AJ McLean shared a personal milestone, announcing he has been sober since September 2021. The announcement, which followed a conversation with his daughter, was met with applause and visibly moved bandmate Kevin Richardson. ## Claims - The concert series in Düsseldorf represents the band's only European performances in 2026.
