The 49th edition of the Badajoz International Theater Festival featured various performances, including the play ‘El funeral’ by Joaquín Murillo, which combined theater and music to celebrate life through a funeral ceremony.

As the two-week program concluded at the Teatro López de Ayala, the festival faced criticism regarding its financial stability. Despite the artistic relevance of the twelve shows presented, the edition was characterized by a significantly limited budget. Observers noted a lack of sufficient resources from sponsors, specifically the City Council and the Junta de Extremadura, and highlighted the absence of key political figures from the festival's activities as a sign of declining institutional support.
