Fuel prices across the Balkan region have shown volatility driven by rising global oil markets, with Brent crude exceeding 110 dollars per barrel.

In Slovenia, gasoline prices were forecasted to decrease slightly to approximately 1.71 euros per liter, while diesel and heating oil were expected to rise by at least four cents per liter.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, significant regional variations emerged. Diesel prices ranged from 3.52 KM to 3.95 KM per liter, and Super 95 gasoline fluctuated between 3.13 KM and 3.71 KM per liter. Recent trends in the country indicate a general increase in costs, with diesel prices noted as being 10.1 percent more expensive than they were in early August.

Energy instability has expanded to include broader electricity pressures. Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH) reported a loss of 52.38 million KM in 2025, attributed to a coal shortage where mines delivered 1.01 million tons less than contracted. This has increased the necessity of purchasing electricity on the market, leading experts to suggest household electricity price increases could occur as early as late 2025 or early 2026.

In Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik announced that households using electricity for heating may soon be required to pay market prices to address energy inefficiency. Additionally, the regulatory body FERK has established a new reference price for electricity from renewable sources at 13.2125 fen per kWh, effective January 2027. Within the Federation of BiH, diesel averages approximately 3.74 KM per liter and Super 95 averages 3.42 KM, though significant gaps persist, such as diesel prices ranging from 3.52 KM in Konjic to 3.95 KM in Livno.
